The man in the the ghost towns camper trailer

This is an older story I wrote last year about an experience some friends and I shared while in wolf creek. Not a place you want to find yourself or worse someone else on a winter night.

So the other evening after spending time with some old friends I find out from Tyler that a group of people are going to a ghost town in wolf creek; I hesitate momentarily, then reply with “I’m all in! After finding the directions and waiting for all the people to show up we were a bit behind schedule. By the time we left Grants Pass there were 3 full cars and it was about 10:30 P.M. After Getting to wolf creek and finding again how to get there we arrive in front of the abandoned ghost town of golden. Built in the 1860s as a gold mine community, it included a couple of outer buildings such as a small store, a canary, a barn, and a church..school house , oh and also a grave yard. The ghost town its self is rather eerie but the full moon and clear sky deducted from the inherent spookiness of the town. Unfortunately we did not see any ghosts or other paranormal activities but something ever more dreadfully horrible would be waiting for us in the camper trailer! After meandering through the ghost town of golden the group of 15 youngsters that were made of went across the street to a gravel pit. The area was rather open, It extended its self in a large rectangle the size of several foot ball fields . As soon as you get down the small hill from where the cars were parked the trial leads you to the open gravel area. To attempt to get a better view of the entire area we all climb upon a small mound that rose 15 to 20 feet up from the surroundings. From there we all saw a white camper trailer in the distance about 150 to 200 yards away. The first inherent assumption was that this trailer was abandoned and left empty but we would soon find that to be a hair raising underestimation! Being that we were in wolf creek my main concern was that if someone found all of us trespassing there first inclination would not be to inform the authorities, but rather to become the antagonist in our survival horror story. I remember seeing Kyle, Laurel and Jordan getting closer to determine if this camper trailer was in use or not. Being curious and having my trusty l.e.d mag lite with me I decided on join them. When we got close enough to get a better look we could see curtains and blankets put over the windows in the camper so we were not able to see inside. We then through some small rocks at the trailer to see if there would be any reaction. I then checked the nearby fire pit to see if perhaps i could determine how long ago it had been used and in turn give us a clue as to if this trailer was in use. While Kyle and Jordan and Laurel held a flash light from one side I went around to the back with my light. Still no sign. As I continued going around the back side of the camper the trailer door became visible. As I got closer to the door Kyle, Jordan and laurel circle slightly around in the opposite direction putting us both on the passenger side of the vehicle. At this time I was almost positive that this was a very empty camper trailer, but then, Kyle and Jordan shut off their light, I shut off mine at the same time and through the diffusing screen of the trailer door window I could see a soft blue light come on. I quickly hustled over to Kyle, Jordan and Laurel. I then explain that there was something that just turned on from within the trailer. Like something’s in there like someone knows were here. Tyler, Clayton and two other people begin to walk over toward us and the trailer. We hesitantly walk back over toward the trailer with the intent of finding out once and for all what is inside. As we approach the door of the trailer with flash light in hand i nervously look to the others around me. As I grab the handle of this travel trailer door i am inundated with fear, fear whether or not I was in danger, fear if this indulgence to my curiosity was the best choice. I quickly pull the latch of the door and swing it open. I sweep the interior with my flashlight In the first split second nothing. And then, The red satin that laid flat on the small couch bed in the cabin wiggled and sat up quickly, the voice from within said “HEY”. With my immediate surprise I quickly slammed the door shut and begin running from there as fast as I can. Immediately Jordan ,Kyle, Laurel start to run back to the rest of the group on the mound across the gravel yard, Clayton and Tyler quickly pick up on the events that must have transpired and join in on running like hell back to where we came from. In the frenzy to leave we all begin shouting ” we need to go there’s some one in the trailer”. The rest of the group understanding our urgency hustles down the side of the mound and begins to bolt up the trail to where our cars are parked. After catching up on the trail with the others moments later we fill them in on the details of what had just taken place. Then from behind us in the back we hear Jordan and Josh yell out ” there’s someone else following us, get out of here. ” The panic quickly spreads and all 15 of us flee to the vehicles and leave the ghost town of golden. After reconvening at sharies in Grants Pass 25 minutes later we enjoy Onion rings, Milk shakes and sandwiches.
