Home for the Weekend

Horseshoes I am back home for the weekend, I came back into town to visit some friends and to get some work done on my internship project. I took some time this afternoon walking through my grandparents grape arbor and garden. Ive been there hundreds of times before, I have become so familiar with that place; I could walk through it with my eyes closed. Even the horseshoes hanging on the old post in the photo above have been around for years, despite the new coat of Rustoleum paint already chipping away.  I was working with my Nikon D2H(but that sounds like a name drop, the gear doesn’t matter) what really matters is that I was working on shooting RAW images, most of the time I was shooting with a fixed 50mm f1.8 lens.  I spent around an hour with the family …

October Morning Photos

There is really nothing like October mornings. I love this time of year, the trees, the colors, the sky, all of it.  Ive been looking for some time for me to go out and shoot this fall.  As I said, its one of my favorite times of year and especially my favorite time for photography.   90% of the time there is really nothing someone can do to get me up and out of bed before 9:00 am. I drove south of town and spent some time around the fields and farms south of Philomath( awesome drive in the country by the way, even without a camera) Spent some time this morning getting some photos done, some fresh air and …

I think of myself as a fairly adept photographer; at least for my age, my gear and my actual time spent with the craft. But this experience kicked my but, I have more throw away shots pulled of this CF card then almost any other shoot that I have done. I had tons of problems with my autofocus and with my exposures but I was able to work those …
