A Few Travel Notes

A few travel notes

At this time I am probably off somewhere near the
Gorge,  ready to watch  the Dave Matthews band perform.  While I write this however, it is Friday afternoon
and I am still spending some time in Hood River, working on a few projects and
catching up on some road work.

This weekend really starts the trip for me.  Friday evening we are meeting up with a few
friends and traveling to the Gorge for Labor Day weekend.  Really excited to watch some real live music,
I have heard nothing but great things about the experience of watching DMB at
the gorge. Just glad I can join the group of typical northwest young people and
say that I saw Dave at the Gorge.

I am also really interested in the photographic
possibilities of this trip. I have a few plans to work on some portrait work,
maybe even bust out the flash and diffuser.
But we will see how all of that pans out once I get there, I have been
known to plan too much.

A few things I have noticed-

My car is over packed. Just too much weight, it is about the
same (if not less) then it was for the trip that I did last year, but poor,
poor Camry is another 20k miles deep and  just can’t pull the hills like she used to  Unfortunately cutting weight probably means
cutting gear – food- or water, but longevity is the goal of this trip. Just
have to find a good balance point.

I am planning for this weekend to be the most single trip mileage
and driving that I will have to put on my car.
I drove from Grants Pass the Gorge in 3 trips over 3 days.  From here on out, I am traveling much slower.  In fact slowing down is a big lesson I intend
to teach myself on this trip.  Over the
next 2 weeks we will be moving through Washington and Oregon, then heading back
to the Eugene area for another concert … then more camping.
