As it normally goes for
me, I am a little bit busier than I had expected, but in fairness this is the
busy hectic part of the trip. I am now just wrapping
up the first section of the trip. Today I am back in Portland Oregon, currently
working out of a Peets coffee while we take turns feeding the parking meter outside
(which reminds me of how much I can not wait for the actual wilderness camping that’s
coming up).

This past Labor Day
weekend we spent our time at the Gorge in Washington, watching the Dave
Matthews Band perform.  Camping out for
Dave Matthews is a really unique experience.
The event is huge, we arrived Friday night and set up camp around
hundreds and hundreds of other cars and RVs and  house-boats that arrived to spend the weekend
there.

The concert was great,
nothing is better than watching a group of really good musicians perform music
on stage.  We were only able to go Saturday night, there was a huge crowd.
The Gorge is a enormous venue but the sound was good and the experience was
great.

It was interesting to
hear about experienced ‘DAVERS’. A lot of the people in
attendance have been going to the Gorge for the Dave Matthews band for years.
We talked to one couple who took a flight from Austin, rented a car and drove
to the gorge to camp-out for Dave. They said that they had gone to 42 Dave Matthews
concerts so far. Just in the row that we were camping we met people from
Seattle, Boise and Chicago.

We also found out that
there are a huge number of #bros that attend this event,  apparently just there to party.
