Living in Portland out of my truck

I have been quiet here on this site for the past month. On August first I moved to Portland to live out of my 4runner and find a way to get by in the city.  It has been an interesting process. Much of it was a struggle, though I am sure it is comparable to the other struggles that young men face during their twenties.  I must say that it was strange waking up in the back cab of the 4runner, with the windows blacked out by paper. Then driving to a starbucks to shower up, look for work, and get by for another day in the city. Living as a nomad-drifter- homeless person out of my truck in the city of Portland is far from the worst thing; but it’s also far from the best,

I am lucky to have friends and allies here in th Portland area, without that, This would be nearly impossible. I am also fortunate to have enough coming in that this process is sustainable.

At the beginning, the experience was almost overwhelming. That phase has passed. this is a far from structured lifestyle, but I am able to make sense of it.

Now that things are on a bit  more of a roll, I will be continuing work on a photo project that has been in the works for a few months now.
