Hey, what’s going on? This is Billy Newman and you’re listening to an episode of The Billy Newman photo podcast. And I’m a photographer based in the northwest, you can find me at Billy Newman photo calm at Billy Newman on Instagram. Today, I’m going to be talking about a few of the media pieces that I am working on putting together for the third of November 2017, it’s been a good week. So far, it’s really been way productive. I’ve been trying to cut together a ton of media stuff on the computer, I’ve been trying to do a ton more networking stuff on the phone, which has been way effective, I’m actually really happy, I’m trying to try to do more networking stuff and more, more like audience based distribution stuff or trying to find people and leads and you know, a market to kind of associate some of my photographs with. And so I’ve talked before about, you know, trying to find where my photographs can be valuable. But I also know like, what I work on the most, and what I try and put the most value into what I’m what I’m probably most specialized, that is definitely an area where I should put a significant amount of my work or my effort, you know. So that’s what I’m trying to do a little bit is trying to think about, you know, how do I approach outdoor adventure tourism photography? What’s my portfolio? Like? What kind of products or services would that specialize in? Where could it be? You know, most valuable? It’s been interesting, kind of trying to think about that. I’ve been trying to journal about it a little bit today. I don’t know. It’s interesting, but it’s always slow going, right? Like, I’ve been working on the photography stuff for like, 10 years, right. And a significant amount of that is trying to put together an Act to try to put together the product or, you know, try to try to make it so that the photos are good. But yeah, a lot of it now is trying to piece together the business, how do you get the cash out of it? Or how do you how do you do something that’s for value for cash, or, you know, some other kind of value that that you can leverage to something out in your future. And there’s a lot of different ways that you can do that. In business, especially. But I’ve been trying to focus a lot on Facebook advertising and Instagram, Instagram promotions, Facebook advertising, just really promoted marketing content, around around the photographs, the content that I’m already producing. And that’s what I’m trying to focus on a lot during November. And a lot of business development stuff trying to cold call and contact people through LinkedIn, through Facebook through a few handfuls of different other mediums. But I’ve been spending a good bit of time sorting out and trying to practice with some Facebook advertisements, which has been cool, I’ve been, like I said, I put up a couple on Instagram for about five bucks, I think it’s you know, it’s like three to $5 it seems to be where you start. And I’ve been doing a handful of promotions there, I’ve seen that they’re not really quite as effective as, as some other options are. When when you’re using Instagram to put a promoted post up, I’m sure there’s a lot of effects that you could have with it. And I’m bad if you put 20 bucks behind the photograph, you can probably see a significant amount of, of market that gets that promoted post pushed to it. But I’ve also been looking at the analytics from the the Facebook advertising app, the one that you can get on your phone. So you can manage some of the ad accounts and campaigns that you have actively running, you can edit the budgets and edit the time that the run added their audience placements or stuff. And you can also view some of the analytics of the work and how the ads performing so far. So it was kind of cool trying that with a couple different different photographs and seeing how they worked. Seeing way more.

just way more interaction on Facebook at a way lower cost per interaction, I think like it breaks it down of whatever you spend to like, it was like six cents at first, I think it raised up to nine cents per post interaction, not just impression, but but but like interaction, which is way cheaper than what I might have thought it would be. But it’s been kind of cool, I’ve been enjoying trying to put that together. And there’s a trickle off of that of people that are that are that are liking the page that are checking it out, that’ll be kind of associated with that content in the future. If I if I keep posting, then I definitely hope to Oh, and also keep promoting posts, right? I think like Facebook holds a lot of a lot of those like page posts away from a larger amount of your audience, if it doesn’t really seem like they’d be interested or if it seems like you’ve not paid Facebook for the access to promote to your audience. So it’s kind of interesting how work in the algorithm goes and what it’s like to put together a little bit of cash behind promoted post, but definitely seeing the value in participating in some paid marketing. And I think that might be an interesting way to sort of just sort of build out the audience of people that that are distributed, the photographs that I get, I’m really trying to grow that and I’m trying to grow fast too, right? You know, I have a I have a large amount of photographs that I can put out. And if I can put the money behind a lot of these advertisers, I feel sneeze coming on. If I put the money behind a lot of these advertisements that I figured that I can sort of micro target a significant number of different audiences based on the content and the photographs that I’m putting up or the videos that I’m trying to put up and I hope that it can be a faster or more exponential way of trying to grow a business And man, would that be what I’m trying to do? So hoping that this can be a key to it, and I know it’s got interesting but yeah, if you guys spot one of my promoted posts on Facebook, comment on it and say, Hey, whoa, I saw this get out of town. So that should be just about everything for this quick update from the Billy Newman photo podcast again you can check me out at Billy Newman on Instagram at Billy Newman photo.com and shoot I guess shoot over to Facebook. scroll around over there. See if you see any my advertisements floating around. That’s it for today’s episode. Thanks a lot for listening guys. Have a good one.
