I have been breaking in the 4runner this past week. This last camping trip was spent in the Modoc and shasta – trinity national Forrest.

Author of five photography books
Landscape Portfolio captures wild terrain across the Western U.S. Black and White is about monochrome photography. Working With Film covers analog processes in modern workflows. I host five podcasts: the Billy Newman Photo Podcast, Get Out There Podcast, Night Sky Podcast, Media Tech Podcast, and Relax with Rain.

Backcountry travel and night sky
I have shot Western wilderness areas since 2011: Wallowa Mountains, Alvord Desert, Tetons, Yellowstone, Moab, Canyonlands, Yosemite, and Grand Canyon. Early trips were 50–100 day road expeditions. Now I do shorter trips and daily morning shoots, tracking constellations, moon phases, and sky conditions.

Scholarship organizer
I founded the Kelly Christensen Memorial Scholarship for my English teacher at Hidden Valley High School, working with the Redwood Education Foundation to support graduating seniors.
