Billy Newman

Photographer

My photographs have been featured in campaigns for Travel Oregon, Airbnb, and Chevrolet. I photograph remote landscapes across the American West using field-tested techniques and natural light, alongside commissioned weddings, portraits, and commercial brand work. My portfolio is at billynewmanphoto.com/photographs.

Technical Project Lead

I lead digital content pipelines, studio production workflows, and web infrastructure for global brands, government agencies, legal practices, and technology companies.

I directed digital imaging workflows across more than 200 seasonal product launches at Nike World Headquarters, redesigned 15+ department websites for Marion County Health Services, managed WordPress operations for 15Five, and coordinated interactive retail display deployments across 800+ locations for Outform with Rare Beauty, ASUS, Bose, Intel, and Samsung.

I also manage legacy site migrations, accessibility compliance, and operational documentation. View my full experience on the Curriculum Vitae and Project Showcase.

Podcast Producer & Host

I produce and host independent audio shows covering photography, astronomy, and media production. The Billy Newman Photo Podcast shares behind-the-scenes stories from fieldwork. The Night Sky Podcast and Astrophotography Podcast cover astronomy, celestial cycles, and skywatching, while Relax with Rain features ambient field soundscapes. Featured episodes include Winter Camping in the High Desert and Mars in Retrograde.

Backcountry Travel & Night Sky

I have photographed Western wilderness areas since 2011, including the Wallowa Mountains, Alvord Desert, Tetons, Yellowstone, Moab, Canyonlands, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon. Early journeys were 50 to 100 day overland expeditions; today I balance multi-day backcountry trips with daily morning fieldwork.

I track constellations across seasons, planetary alignments, and Milky Way position, learning the sky through repetition the same way you learn a landscape and planning shoots around moon phases and atmospheric conditions.

Scholarship Organizer & Location

I founded the Kelly Christensen Memorial Scholarship in honor of my English teacher at Hidden Valley High School, working with the Redwood Education Foundation to support graduating seniors who lead and mentor others.

Location: Based in Oregon.
