I am Billy Newman—photographer, technical project leader, founder of billynewmanphoto.com & wphoto.co, podcast producer & host, author of four photography books, community & scholarship organizer, outdoor travel & night sky enthusiast.

My multimedia work for Intel, Samsung, Nike, and ASUS has reached global audiences through digital campaigns, retail displays, and branded content. I shoot landscape and travel photography for clients including Travel Oregon, Airbnb, and Chevrolet. I also do commercial work—weddings, portraits, and brand campaigns. Most of my personal work focuses on remote wilderness areas in Oregon and the American West.

Outdoor Travel & Night Sky Exploration

I've photographed Western wilderness areas since 2011. Wallowa Mountains, Alvord Desert, Tetons, Yellowstone, Moab, Canyonlands, Yosemite, Grand Canyon. Early years were 50-100 day road expeditions between locations. Now I do shorter trips and daily morning shoots. I focus on landscape photography in accessible public lands. This work appears in my four photography books, supports commercial clients like Travel Oregon, and produces content for couples seeking engagement shoots in remote locations.

Night Sky & Archaeoastronomy

I study practical astronomy through observation. My Night Sky Podcast covers constellation recognition, planetary motion, and star mythology—less about technical astrophotography, more about learning the sky through repetition, the way you learn a landscape. I track constellations across seasons, planet appearances, Milky Way movement. I use this to plan photography around moon phases and sky conditions.
