The Ole’ Camry and me in front of Mt Hood … just passed 327,000 miles, yikes!
I have been trying to think of a more cool name for this trip than just “Road Trip”, though I will admit Western Overland Excursion might be a bit much? IDK, let me know
I really don’t think that I have mentioned what the purpose of this trip is yet, at least not on my blog. I am taking off on this trip because, first of all, I want to. Second, I am trying to create a real photography portfolio that I like. I’ve been shooting for years, but often it’s just of… stuff. It lakes structure or focus, (like direction) and vision. I dont know if I will really find any of those things in my creative photography on this trip, but the goal is to try.
I’ve brought all my gear (which I will get into later) and Ive brought books and shot lists and other study material to work with while I am on the road. One of my favorite photographers, David duChemin, http://www.pixelatedimage.com/blog/ just recently did basically this exact style of trip, which obviously, inspired my current trip. Though he was doing it for an entire year, and over the entire United states, I am emmulating it with the means that I have avalible.
This now marks the start of week 2. The “camping” trip is over and now starts the more structured, get some work done and make some photographs section of the trip. Ive been looking forward to this. Hopefully it works out for me. It eventully will, I just can’t rush it.
Right now I am sitting at the Doppio coffee lounge in Hood River Oregon… again. I was hear yesterday, and I liked it so much I wanted to stop in again on my way back through. I’ll be traveling solo for the next week of so. Which is a little scary to me, but also really exciting. The goal today is to get around Pendelton Oregon. If you don’t hear from me… I guess, look for me there :/
New Edditions
I finally got my Phone woriking as a mobile hotspot, what that means is that anything in my Camry is now a rolling mobile WiFi hotspot. Im sure the Wallowa National Forrest has tons of 3G service 😉
but the goal is that I can now post a little bit more to my blog, a little bit more to twitter, and stay a little bit more connected.
