Yosemite Valley

Yosemite Valley

The Yosemite Valley may be one of the most photographed locations on earth, but with good reason. The dramatic sweeping lines of the landscape make it a spectacular sight. This location of the Yosemite Valley is very popular to photograph. At regular intervals, there are tour buses traveling to this lookout point. Tourists take photos and view the scene. This is an internationally known vista. It is for a good reason, the location fits a photograph frame perfectly.

This image was photographed in mid-November. The soft late afternoon light is captured nicely on this image looking out to El Capitan and Half Dome. This frame was captured on a film camera, the Nikon FG 20. In the camera, I was shooting with Kodak Ektar 100 speed film. I photographed this with a 50 mm 1.8 lens. The 50 mm focal length fits the mountains and canyons rise of the Yosemite valley very well.

I stayed at this Lookout point for around 45 minutes. We took a series of photographs of the evening light changing on the Yosemite Valley. I spent a lot of time working with my digital camera to capture a bracket set of images. later I will edit and find the best exposure. I found that the handling of the light in this film photograph was superior to the digital color rendition. This is my favorite photograph of the Yosemite Valley that I took on my trip in 2012.
