Our tent near dusk at horseshoe lake in the Wallowa Mountains.
Backpacking in the Wallowa Mountains is always an
adventure. I am very glad that I was
able to return to the mountains this year.
It is a great adventure, and also an incredible struggle. The remote scenic beauty however makes the
entire struggle worth it. It would be
easy to say that Marina and I over packed for this excursion. We carried to backpacking backpacks full of
camping gear and warm cloths to get us through the freezing alpine nights. We also
carried most of our camera gear which is not made to be light. All I can say is that it was a pretty tough hike up the mountain.
I am really proud of this image. I am trying to learn a more in depth, more refined post processing technique. I think that the way you work with your images after capture has a great deal to do with your perceived style, I am learning that the capture in camera is only the first step in the process of creating an intentional image. I think the black and white treatment strips this image of distractions and pulls the focus toward the light and the lines of the image. I took this photo just as the sun was coming up while we were camped at horseshoe lake. The still mirror like water and the mist moving across the lake add to the photo.
