Camping in the high desert of eastern Oregon
This photograph was taken of my friend on a camping trip to Eastern Oregon. Dave spent a good bit of the time tending to the campfire. Attending a campfire is more involved then sometimes it seems. Out in a camping situation, it can be more difficult to have a uniform consists of materials that allow you to keep a fire.
No stove. Just a fire ring of rocks. Spending time getting the right wood so that it is dry and correctly sized Will allow the fire to burn longer. I have also learned that some types of wood from certain species of trees burn better than others. Some types of wood create better calls for cooking wear some types of wood ashes to a fine powder quickly. Most of the time the use of a fire is a luxury in tandem with hey stove and cooking system.
I have seen examples of camps set up in the backcountry with a billycan and a Firepit. Camping in the high desert of eastern Oregon is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. This photo from the Warner rim area was taken at a camp back in 2016.
