Morning light form the Alabama Hills
This image from the Alabama Hills looks out from our campsite just after sunrise. Really beautiful morning light.
Morning along the Sierra Nevada’s
The Sierra Nevada mountain range is a stunning sight. This image was made just after Thanksgiving 2012. I was camped along the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine California with Marina. I don’t spend enough time working in my Lightroom catalog. I have a process of going through my newly imported photographs. I only select a small handful of images to edit, print and post. This image, for some reason, just never made the cut. Looking …
Light along the Lost Coast
Many of the photographs that I take are never posted anywhere. This image was made from the parking lot of the Lost Coast parking lot last fall. October 2012 was a really creative time for me. Not much has made me happier, and more fulfilled than travelling through the wild, natural places of the world. Early October was spent traveling the coast of southern Oregon and Northern California. I spent almost a week camped here …
Film photo :: Mount Hood
This photograph was taken with my old SLR film camera while I was backpacking through the Mount Hood National forest. I think it has a nice feel to it, the mountain center in the frame, the small bit of campfire in the tree line, and the soft warm light after a summer sunset. All of this seems like a world away now that it is December.
Traveling Mountain Roads
Traveling through the mountain roads north of the Mckenzie river in the foothills of the cascades.
Ready for the Holidays
This image was made almost 1 year ago when I returned home from my 100 day trip through the west coast. It rarely snows in southern Oregon, and when it does, it never lasts for long. Have to give it up to my family for putting so much in to the holidays.
Camping in Guano Valley (May 2013
Guano Valley Today I thought that I should post a photo from this past May. This image of my Grandpa and Dad was shot in eastern Oregon, south of a small town called Plush near Hart Mountain and the Warner valley. The photo above was made while we were out on a hike through the sagebrush near an old dry lake bed Indians once camped at.
Eclipse viewing
Eclipse trip in northern California. I will be trying to stay a little more current with my website and blog over the next coming weeks. I have noticed that there are many photos and experiences that I have not published to my site. I would like to change that. I will be working on a series of posts over the next few weeks that will be dedicated to photographs and projects that I completed, but …
Living in Portland out of my truck
I have been quiet here on this site for the past month. On August first I moved to Portland to live out of my 4runner and find a way to get by in the city. It has been an interesting process. Much of it was a struggle, though I am sure it is comparable to the other struggles that young men face during their twenties. I must say that it was strange waking up …
The Wallowa Mountains
I just recently made it back from backpacking in the Wallowa Mountains. If you have had the chance to keep up with my travels over the past few years you might recognize it. This was a 9 mile hike in to a place called Ice Lake, I had backpacked here once before back in the fall of 2011. This is one of my favorite film photos that I made. A reimagination of a digital image …
Ebook :: Working With Film
Working with Film :: A Place For Analog in the Digital Age Today I am very happy to release a new ebook. This book has been a project of mine for the past few months. so much of it was a learning process. Learning how to use indesign, learning how to write again, learning how to convey my message through this book. This book is a brief explanation of my creative process, it highlights …
Camping in the Shasta National Forrest
I have been breaking in the 4runner this past week. This last camping trip was spent in the Modoc and shasta – trinity national Forrest. This photo of Robert, Tyler and myself at our campsite near trout creek.
Old homestead
I photographed this old homestead a few weeks back while traveling through the guano valley on south eastern Oregon. Interesting to find such a colorful room in an abandoned house
The 4runner
For along time now I have wanted a 1st gen toyota 4runner. I’ve been looking around for one in good condition for a while now, last week I picked up a 1989 4runner in pretty good shape. I’m considering this version one. The project will be to turn this truck into some kind of overland adventure camping truck.
The Rogue River Near Sunset
Just wanted to make a quick post if this photo i made down along the rogue river. This image was made as the sun was going down the other day. Over the hills you can see the thunderstorm that was moving though the valley to the east. This photo was made near the alameda mine. Right by the spot I would wait to photograph rafters over the past few summers. I drove all the way …
Camping in the Redwoods.
I just finished up an overnight trip I the redwoods. Really interesting to drive through old growth groves of redwood trees that are hundreds of feet tall. It’s the start of may, and for me the start of the summer season. I’m focusing on a handful of interesting projects right now. Building content for a new site. And designing a new ebook that takes a look at the experience of shooting with film. Both projects …
Along the Sierras
I was fortunate to capture a handful of photos that I like from our time in the Sierra nevadas. I shared this image a few days back on facebook. The sunset was probably right after 3 in the afternoon while we were camped here in November. Looking forward to the day I get to go back here.
Northern California Coast
For this post I just wanted to post a few photos from a recent visit to the California coast. The image above was made with my iPhone along the beach while we were bouldering around rocks along the shore. Below are a few more photos of bouldering, and a shot of hiking through the redwoods in fern canyon near orick. I’m planning out an upcoming backcountry trip through the redwood forest. Right now I’m just …
Sunriver 2013
Today I wanted to make a quick post with some of the photos from this past weekend in Sunriver. Our group has organized a trip to Sunriver for 4 years. Good group of people to spend a weekend with.
Film Collection
I have been working over the past few weeks on an upcoming ebook project for my film photos. Below are 2 images that I have pulled out of my collection after I did another pass. The top image is from the Yosemite Valley right before the sun set behind the hills. The bottom image was taken in late November in the Californian High desert.

Spent the late afternoon yesterday in some of the mountains south of town shooting some guns with my cousin Loren. It was cold but it was great to be out. Here are a couple photos from our time out
App based image editing
The photo in this post was captured and edited yesterday all on my phone, even this post was created and posted using only my smartphone. The point of this post is to show some of the power of mobile processing. The image of the ice crystals was taken near the bank of a creek by my home. Southern Oregon is cold and clear right now. I really like the structure of the large crystals that …
Unfocused Aspen Grove iOS Wallpaper
This photo was made last year while I was traveling through a golden aspen grove in Grand Teton National Park. I was going for something closer to abstract impressionism in this image. It has been sized up just right for your iPhone 4 or iPhone 5. Click the thumbnail to see / and download the full size image.
